An incredibly violent new trailer for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been released, along with the news that the title is targeting a 2023 launch window. In addition, developer Sumo Nottingham has confirmed the game will be coming to PS4, in addition to the already announced PS5 version of the game.
Players will take on the role of either a member of the infamous Slaughter family or one of their potential victims, in this gruesome asymmetrical multiplayer game "based on true events". That last part might be a bit of a stretch, as the villain Leatherface is inspired by the actions of real-life serial killer Ed Gein, but only tangentially.
Does The Texas Chain Saw Massacre cause the monster inside you to stir? Will you be picking up this title when it launches? Flee for your life in the comments section below.

For those with game pass it's day one
I can’t believe they’ve finally made a game where you can play as Andrew Lloyd Webber
This is dumb. There’s already an f13 and evil dead game in this manner. Let’s get some original content with the IP.
@Martsmall Looks right about what would be thrown onto GP day one since no one in their right mind would buy this trash.
@RatmCky oh I bet they're only just getting started
@RatmCky I wouldn't say no to a Scream one tbh lol. But would makenit fun to have a campaign also where you sneak up on targets and escape the police if seen or kill everyone, Hitman style
Yup looks just as rough as I was expecting from Gun Media... no thank you.
@RatmCky theres also a dragonball game coming out with this sstyle of gameplay unfortuantely
Why do these famous horror IP's with so much potential have to be asymmetrical multiplayer games? Is Freddy next? Are him and Michael also going asymmetrical? Should I expect Chucky the asymmetrical experience to be announced soon!?
How about they give us something with a bit of story? doesn't have to be the scale of a Resident Evil game but something more than this low effort nonsense.
I just hope this isn't connected to the recent Netflix film in any way.
@Martsmall looks like typical gamepass trash
I must be turning into a massive karen in my old age. But is it me or does this seem a bit uncouth?
I get there are films about it, but putting you in control of Leatherface and murdering innocents (in the way you can) seems like its taking the gore-porn thing to the next level. Esp when they're proudly stating its based on true events.
shrug
So what do we have so far:
Am I missing anything? I think the cow has been milked to death.
@PoopScoop You'd be surprised what trash people spend their own money on. One person's trash is another's treasure after all. People with Game Pass can really prove it is trash by not playing it even though they don't have to pay extra for it.
I love the idea, however how does one manage their time between all the other asymmetrical games, and with so many out, will their be enough players for all of them to thrive?
Dead by Daylight seems the best concept, as it brings many franchises together under one roof.
It's my favourite film, but it doesn't lend itself well to a multiplayer game that will be anything other than average.
I'm so gutted there isn't a single player game coming out.
@Juanalf A nightmare on elm street should definitely be next! Imagine how surreal it could be… there’s so much more potential
The graphics look really nice and it’ll definitely appeal to fans of asymmetrical multiplayer games.
It seems like most people that comment on this site don’t like multiplayer games and like to vocalise that on every post. I get it, you prefer single player games, why ***** on games that don’t appeal to you though?
I’d play this, it’s one of those multiplayer games that’s good fun to play with friends.
A lot of these horror franchises would lend themselves to awesome single player survival horror games. It's a shame everyone is chasing the asymmetrical multiplayer route...
@VatoLoco47 I would def throw some money at a Scream version be interesting to see what would be different killer-wise compared to DBD version.
This another one of them horrendous multiplayer only games
@jFug agreed
